{"id":1371,"date":"2017-11-13T07:16:55","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T07:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.benfreke.org\/?p=1371"},"modified":"2021-11-02T19:34:35","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T19:34:35","slug":"conjunction-venus-jupiter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.benfreke.org\/2017\/11\/13\/conjunction-venus-jupiter\/","title":{"rendered":"Conjunction of Venus and Jupiter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Despite being <a href=\"https:\/\/theplanets.org\/distances-between-planets\/\">416,399,477 miles apart<\/a>, Venus and Jupiter appeared just <a href=\"https:\/\/astronomynow.com\/2017\/11\/10\/see-venus-and-jupiter-get-close-at-dawn-on-13-november\/\">16 arc minutes <\/a>(or half the width of a full Moon) away from each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benfreke.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1web.jpg\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.benfreke.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/1web.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1374\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d planned the scene by using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stellarium.org\/en_GB\/\">Stellarium<\/a>&nbsp;to work out where the planets were going to be and at what time, and used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\">Google Maps<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk\/\">Ordnance Survey<\/a> to calculate where I could see them from<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to Bredon Hill, in Worcestershire, on the morning of Monday 13th November to capture this event.
